Alpine Helen runs along North Main Street and features several wineries and tasting rooms to enjoy without leaving town.
Habersham Winery
One of Georgia’s oldest and largest wineries located just outside of Alpine Helen along the Chattahoochee River.
This is a family-owned winery right in the historic Nacoochee Village, beside Nora Mill Granary and JumpinGoat Coffee Roasters.
The winery offers individual and group wine tastings in their tasting room. Reservations are not required. Try their Cabernet Sauvignon Oak-aged in French barrels with aromas of dark cherries, plums, nutmeg, and toasty oak.
If you want to try something distinctly Southern, be sure to try their Southern Harvest label which utilizes the Muscadine grape.
Sweet Acre Farms Winery Tasting Room
Sweet Acre Farms Winery Tasting Room is located in downtown Helen along South Main Street.
This is a highly rated tasting room with wines ranging from sweet to dry. They are known for friendly and knowledgeable service, making the tasting room a perfect stop off during your time in Helen.

Yonah Mountain Vineyards
Yonah Mountain Vineyards offers daily tastings, and is also a wedding and event venue with lodging. It is set in a picturesque open setting on, you guessed it, Yonah Mountain.
You can enjoy a variety of wines, wine tours, and the incredible views from the Southeastern base of the mountain. The vineyard is a 200-acre estate, family owned, and highly rated.
Kick back and sip on 2019 Jane’s Barrel Select Chardonnay with a finish of peach and tangerine. Or, sample their 2022 riesling with notes of passion fruit, apricot, canned peaches and a hint of earl grey.
CeNita Vineyards, Winery & Tasting Room
CeNita Vineyards, Winery & Tasting Room is a scenic winery that offers award-winning wines, wine tastings, live music events, a wedding venue, and lodging.
This 50-acre family winery is located on the family’s dairy land, and still owned by the founders today. The views of Yonah Mountain and the North Georgia Mountains are relaxing, creating a wonderful setting to sip locally produced wines, from merlots to chardonnays.
Sip on a glass of 2018 Cabernet Franc with notes of green chili, black pepper, and smoke. You might also like their 2018 Chambourcin Reserve which is aged 6-weeks in bourbon barrels with a smooth finish.
Tesnetee River Winery & Meadery
Tesnetee River Winery & Meadery is an acclaimed winery and meadery south of Helen. The winery offers wines, meads, and seasonal wine slushies that are refreshing for the summer months. There is also live music on select days.
This winery is located along the Dahlonega Plateau in Cleveland Georgia. But if you’re doing a tour of wineries around Helen, it’s only around a 20-minute drive.
Enjoy a glass of unique 2024 Elder Black elderberry / blackberry wine. While you’re there you must try the mead, like their Jord Mead inspired by Norse Mythology or their Apiary Mead. The latter is an amber colored mead with honey from Mimosa tree blossoms.
Cottage Vineyard & Winery
Cottage Vineyard & Winery is a friendly, highly rated winery about 20 minutes southwest of Helen. The winery offers tastings, tours, weddings and events venues, and lodgings.
The winery rests on about 46-acres of beautiful North Georgia land, with a focus on great wines and wonderful hospitality. White wines, red wines, and sweet wines are all on the menu and available for tastings.
Sample a white wine like 2021 Viognier with hints of fresh green herbs, lemon zest, and honeysuckle on the nose. Or if you’re in the mood for reds, try their 2020 Malbec with ripe fruit notes and earthy undertones.
Kaya Vineyard & Winery
Kaya Vineyard & Winery is one of the largest, and oldest, wineries in the Dohlonega area of Georgia. The spawning vineyard offers views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the vineyards from its tasting room.
Just about 20-minutes southwest of Helen, the venue offers wine tastings, a wedding venue, and luxury cottages.
In addition to the tasting room’s food menu there are food trucks open on select days, and picnic lunches you can order. Be sure to place your picnic order at least 2 days in advance.
While at their on-site tasting room, sample their Oola – Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. This was the first wine ever produced on the estate.
