Moxy Chattanooga Downtown Hotel Review
Moxy Chattanooga Downtown is a chic, eclectic Marriott hotel near the heart of Chattanooga Tennessee. I stayed at the Moxy for a long weekend and can say it has everything you need for a charming stay.
But, it’s located 1.2 miles from the aquarium and riverfront. So factor that in if you’re considering what part of Chattanooga you want to explore on foot.
The hotel is located between the City Center and the Southside District. This is a good spot to make your vacation home base as you explore the city.
About Moxy Chattanooga Downtown
The Marriott Moxy collection attracts “fun hunters” with its communal spaces, good locations, approachable pricing, and self service amenities. This is exactly what I found when I stayed.
Right when you walk in, you arrive at Bar Moxy, the hotel bar that doubles as the check in counter. The lounge beside it is stocked with snacks and comfortable seating, and its honestly pretty inviting.
Overall the Moxy gives a bit of an upscale hostel feel but with a gym, private rooms, and good parking.

Staying at the Moxy Chattanooga Downtown
The Moxy creates similar experiences across its portfolio of hotels. Here is what you can expect when you book at the Moxy Chattanooga Downtown.
Moxy Rooms
The hotel room is just the right size for 1 to 2 guests. Solo travelers and couples seem to be their main targets.
Your room will include modern decor with a bed at the center of the room – pretty standard.
What I liked are the little details Moxy adds. This included a folding table and two chairs that hang on the wall, drawers under the bed, and layered black out curtains.
The bathroom is sleek and well stocked with towels and hair dryer. I appreciated that Moxy didn’t bother with little personally wrapped soaps that always feel like a waste.
Instead, you get the big containers of shampoos and hand soaps that don’t end up in a landfill.
The hotel has views of the city. While the views weren’t super special, the location is very convenient.

During my stay there was a good amount of people hanging out in the lounge spaces.
Moxy hosts trivia nights and live music, a fun way for the community and visitors to mingle.
There is a small breakfast area with a grab and go cooler. In the morning I grabbed complimentary coffee on my way out the door.

Moxy Parking
Parking in onsite and very easy. I paid at the front desk but there are also self-pay signs in the parking lot. The hotel’s location along King Street is super easy to find.
Check in and Check out
The check in process was very easy. I checked in at Bar Moxy and the person at the front desk had my room key and parking sorted in a few minutes. You’ll also get a token for a free snack or drink from the fridge with check-in.
The Surrounding Neighborhood
The hotel is located in South Chattanooga between City Center and Southside Historic District.
You can walk to local restaurants and night life. The location is a few minutes’ walk to restaurants in the Southside neighborhood along Choo Choo Avenue.
When I was in town, I visited Elsies Daughter. I highly recommend a visit to this cozy, upscale haunt while you’re in Chattanooga.
I also visited Five Wits Brewing Company for local brews on the porch.
The Moxy is a block from the Chattanooga Choo Choo. It’s a few minutes’ stroll to restaurants on West Main Street. Highly recommend Elsie’s Daughter for dinner, the atmosphere and food were exceptional.
What the Moxy Chattanooga Downtown is Great for
