Monthly Travel Blogging Update [July 2024]
Each month I share a brief blogging update so you can see the behind the scene progress of starting a travel blog in 2024. I started my blog in January 2024, and this is the third report as I come into my 8th month of blogging.
The only 2 activities I am focused on for the first 12 months are writing blog posts and creating pins for Pinterest. If you’re curious to see the monthly progress this blog is making, keep scrolling!
July Blogging Goals
- Hit 1,500 monthly website views.
- Restructure my Pinterest strategy (strategy will run July through August).
- Increase click through from search engines to website.
Year 1 Blogging Goals
- Reach 10,000 monthly website sessions, continue growing month over month.
- Get accepted into Journey by MediaVine (this is an ads agency).
- Post 2 blogs each week.

July 2024 Blogging Summary
This month Pinterest is down from May and June. But, I also began a new Pinterest strategy in the second week of July, and it can take weeks for this to adjust. I am giving this new strategy through August to show results. I’m measuring success by an increase in click throughs to the my website.
Because the first year of blogging is about building routines, consistency, and experimenting with what works, I don’t worry about 1 month dips when adjusting strategies. I’ve read it’s important not to change strategies too often, because frequent changes makes it difficult to measure what is truly working. So, I’m staying with my current pin strategy through August.
My top posts that performed this month were How to Listen to Music on a Plane and 87 Best Travel Captions for Couples. Fun fact, they’re all original (minus the famous quotes!) so be sure to check them out if you’re running out of caption ideas for your travel posts.
I hope you enjoyed this transparent blogging report. I see many posts online that feel conflated and unrealistic. Consistency is key, and it takes time to build trust and rank on search engines.
