This cozy spot is right above Helen Georgia, but tucked into the hillside, so it feels like it’s own little escape.

Helen is under 2 hours from Atlanta. It’s also a beautiful drive with cute coffee shops and antiquing along the way.

There’s a 65 acre old growth forest right in Atlan

There’s a 65 acre old growth forest right in Atlanta. Fernbank Forest is a nature preserve, part of the larger Fernbank Museum campus. We visited on a sunny June day, and it was a beautiful place for a walk. The paths are well maintained, and you can stop to read the trail side plaques about plants and forest history.

To visit, go through the main museum entrance and follow the signs 🌲 @fernbankmuseum

We signed up 2 days before and drove an hour to Sugar Hill, which gave us a chance to try a new race and see a new part of Georgia.

The route followed Sugar Hill Greenway, and included mimosas at the finish line 🥂
