I’d chosen this four star hotel because it’s right in the heart of Charleston and we wanted to explore on foot. Not to mention, the wall paper caught my eye.

The Lindy is an upscale Charleston hotel that feels luxurious without being stuffy. The rooms and common spaces create a whimsical charm that flow naturally into the rest of Charleston’s polished atmosphere.

Everything about the room was well laid out. The high top mini bar at the entrance was stocked with coffees and teas. The king sized bed was luxurious and plus.

The lighting on the bedside stand added a touch of whimsical fun. As did the bunny rabbit wallpaper in the bathroom that had caught my eye when we booked the hotel.

The room provided a quiet sanctuary to come home from exploring the city, exactly why we’d booked it.

I also appreciated that the Lindy provides a water refill station on each floor. The selection includes cold water, hot water, and carbonated water for guests.

The Lindy sits in the heart of the city with limited square footage. The room feels a bit small, but we didn’t mind one bit becaus the space and the views were lovely and thoughtful.

Checking into the Lindy Renaissance

The friendly staff at the front desk had us checked in quickly. We arrived on a bustling weekend of weddings and bachelorette party-goers. When we asked about nearby dining the front desk team were happy to show us exactly where we could find sea food, coffee, southern favorites, all marked down on our own paper map to take with us.

Belongings in our room we hopped on the free bike rentals and headed out towards a nearby restaurant recommendation for lunch.

Since we drove to Charleston we opted for the parking garage just across Wentworth Street. Covered private parking was an easy flat fee for the weekend. We didn’t touch the car for the rest of the weekend since everything was nearby.

A nice little perks of being a Marriott Gold Member; we received ‘power ball snack bites’ as a welcome gift, which are gluten and dairy free. These are also sold at Hot and Handy.

Rooftop pool and gym

The hotel’s outdoor saltwater pool and 24-hour fitness center are nice little perks.

We took a quick stroll through both but didn’t spend time at either since it was a quick weekend trip.

The heated pool was empty when we strolled through, but it seemed like a lovely spot to relax in the sun with a drink.

Is staying at the Lindy worth it?

Yes. The Lindy’s location is in a great location if you want to see Charleston on foot. Its close to Charleston’s Historic District, shopping on King Street, and Charleston City Market.

The hotel itself has the air of a boutique hotel and all the amenities you expect in a Marriott.

A few fun little perks we enjoyed at the Lindy:

We rode the Lindy’s complimentary bikes all around, including over to the Charleston Harbor for a sunset boat tour. They included bike locks, helmets, and baskets.

Coffee on a quiet balcony right on the bottom floor of the hotel. We ordered coffees and stepped outside to enjoy the early morning hustle and bustle along Wentworth Street.

You can refill waterbottles with chilled, hot, and carbonated water on each floor.

Restaurants inside the Lindy Renaissance

The Lindy has one of our favorite restaurants – Lenoir by chef Vivian Howard. Brimming with Southern charm and a bright, imaginative menu, I implore you to add this to your Charleston itinerary.

Beside Lenoir on the ground floor is the Handy and Hot coffee shop with indoor, outdoor courtyard seating.

Our favorite dishes at Lenoir were the Shrimp and Pimento Cheese Omelet during weekend brunch, and the Smash Burger during dinner (I still dream about it).

Hot and Handy brews a strong Americano, our preferred way to start the morning. You’ll also find Lindy’s famous Power Ball Bites in their pastry case, so you can take a few for the road.

Final thoughts

Charleston is the epitome of southern hospitality. If you’ve never visited, please add it to your list. The Lindy Renaissance ended up being a natural jumping off point to the city’s most famous attractions like Rainbow Row and Charleston Historic District. If you go to Charleston for Christmas you’ll also be close to the best holiday lights and celebrations.
